Just a comment about your article. Jesus said, ‘The Son can do nothing of his own accord, but only what he sees the Father doing.’
He could have said, ‘The Son only does what He knows the Father would like’. Or ‘The Son does only what the Father tells him to do’.
Both these two alternatives would be determined by Jesus, and focused on what He did. But the first is completely in the Father’s will and is focused on relationship.
This is the great mystery. It is not ‘doing the loving thing or being obedient, but the coming together of heavenly Spirit with earthly Spirit.
I agree. Jesus often described his relationship with the Father as much like the Apostles' relationship with him as a teacher.
My literal translation makes it clearer that Jesus is focusing on the Father's role as a creator.
"Amen, Amen, I tell you. The son doesn't have the power to make anything from himself when he doesn't see the Father making it. Because when that person there makes these things the son likewise makes [them]."
The problem is Jesus's lack of ability, or possibly knowledge. Though Christian theology wants to make Father and son co-equal, the Father is the creator. At least while Jesus was alive.
Good news about your health. Take extra care.
