Lost In Translation: Jesus Most Popular Quotes
What do most people know about the teaching of Jesus? This article at What Christians Want to Know website offers a good answer. These fifteen Jesus quotes, consisting of around twenty-seven verses, are familiar to the most church-going Christians. Just guessing, They represent over 90% of the Jesus verses that I have heard mentioned in sermons at church. Sermons are more like to reference Paul’s word that Jesus’s, but when Jesus is quoted, it is commonly one of these verses.
To put this in perspective, there are nineteen hundred and twenty-one verses spoken by Jesus in the New Testament. So these twenty-seven verses represent about 1.4% of his sayings.
This article is the beginning of a series of articles based on this list. The currently finished articles are listed below:

KJV: My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father’s hand. I and my Father are one.
Listeners Heard: These sheep, these ones of mine own, this voice of mine they hear. And I learn to know them and they follow me. And I give to them on-going life. And they should never destroy themselves as far as this lifetime. And anyone might not snatch them from this hand of mine. That Father of mine who has given [them] to me is greater than everyone and no one has the power to snatch from the hand of that Father. I myself and the Father are one thing.

For whosoever will save his life shall lose it; but whosoever shall lose his life for my sake and the gospel’s, the same shall save it. For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?
Listeners Heard: If anyone wants to show up after me, he must reject himself and lift up that stake of his, and follow me. Because someone when he wants to rescue this, his own self, he will demolish it. Because someone when he wants to rescue this, his own self, he will demolish it.
